Historical Opportunity

Kingsmark Kennels is the definitive organization for dog boarding in Northern Arizona with over 65 years of heritage. In 2010, they were at a crossroads with an outdated website and a desire to make their brand more approachable. Flagstaff Web Architects (Arizona) was tasked with the challenge of reimagining Kingsmark for today’s dog lover, while staying true to the roots of their history and the local community. Our goal was to rethink the way dog lovers engage with Kingsmark, while retrieving credible information and sharing their love for all things dog.

Search Engine Optimization

We decided to focus on keywords that were local as it offers the best ROI, especially with a city the size of Flagstaff. This strategy isn’t necesarily ideal for every project as the related keywords may be difficult or even more difficult than just going after organic keywords.

Keep in mind when we started this project, Kingsmark Kennels was on the 5th page of Google search. With the research, on-site search engine optimization, extensive off-site seo work, and our understanding of how the internet (actaully) works, they now hold the leading positions of not just Flagstaff… but for Northern Arizona / Arizona for the majority of the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages).

Meet The New Kingsmark

With a growing mobile audience and an untapped market of dog lovers who don’t necessarily follow the complicated world of boarding and breed standards, titles and points, we created a responsive ecosystem centered on dogs and why we love them. Key to the concept is the “Dog of the Month”, the definitive source where users can meet any dog and learn about their characteristics, quirks and see socially-shared photos. On top of that, we created a new way to find dogs — by focusing on which dogs match the user’s attributes, instead of having the user specify what type of dog they wanted.

As the mobile market continues to grow and more consumers rely on their devices to search for products online, it was important for Flagstaff Web Architects (Arizona) to prioritize a seamless user experience in order to remain successful in the future.
